Western Economic Diversification Government of Canada funds, in part, SMEDA Business Development Corporation under their Community Futures Development Corporation program.


Pan-Canadian Community Futures Development Corporations Network website providing information on nearly 300 community economic development centres across Canada.


The Community Futures Network Society of Alberta (CFNSA) is designed to support 27 Community Futures Development Corporations (CFDCs) located throughout the province of Alberta. As such, it is available at the request of an individual CFDC or group of CFDCs to provide assistance to the CFDC as required.

It also provides support services including the developing of more global than local contacts and programs for the benefit of all CFDCs.


The SMEDA Expertise Database provides a central location for professionals in all industries to communicate with those who require their expertise. Further, professionals who wish to offer their services to others can become a member of the Expertise Database on-line.


The Youth Connections program is designed to assist youth aged 15-24 move in the workforce. It connects young people to learning and employment information, resources, labour market and career information, opportunities for work experience and on-the-job skill development. In addition, the program offers assistance with school-to-work transition for high school students.

The Centre 2000 is home to the following community and regional organizations: Grande Prairie & District Chamber of Commerce, Regional Tourism Marketing organization, Travel Alberta, Grande Prairie Museum, Centre for Business Development, United Way, Grande Prairie Community Foundation, Volunteer Services Bureau, Industry Canada, SMEDA Business Development Corporation (sub-office), and the Canadian Technology Network.

This site also includes statistical data on the economic impact of the tourism sector on the Grande Prairie region.
